Former International Cricketer and Cricket Commentator
- Michael played regional cricket for Jamaia (1973-1989) and international cricket for the West Indies (1975-1987)
- He played County cricket in England for Derbyshire from 1985 to 1989
- He also played one season each in Australian Sheffield Shield cricket for Tasmania and in New Zealand’s domestic cricket tournament for Canterbury.
- He retired from First class cricket in 1989.
- He first started cricket broadcasting in 1988 with Radio Jamaica then got the break on TV on the first tour to be televised out of the Caribbean when England toured in 1990.
- He signed his first long term contract with SKY in 1998 and remained with SKySports until he retired at the end of the 2021 English summer.
- He has had commentary stints in Australia with Channel 9 and South Africa with SuperSports.
- During that time he published three books; Whispering Death, No Holding Back and Why We Kneel How We Rise. Why We Kneel How We Rise won the William Hill Sports Book of the Year Award and was The Sunday Times best seller in 2021.
- He is the recipient of four Honorary Doctorate awards from The East Anglia University, University of East London, University of Derby and University of the West Indies.
- He was recently invited to be on the board of the newest private primary school in the Cayman Islands, Island Primary.
